Between the Beginning and the End

What\'s the Big Idea?

What's the Big Idea concludes by exploring what New Creation looks like in the face of Apocalypse. We learn what it looks like to live between Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

From Series: "What's the Big Idea?"

The Scriptures are full of symbols, metaphors and ideas that don't make a lot of sense to our modern ears. From the evil of the oceans and living water to temples and gods, much of the language we find in the Scriptures points to a worldview very different from 21st century America. In this class, we'll explore these ideas, examine where they influence the Scriptures. We'll also find those same ideas in popular culture today, everywhere from books and movies to philosophy and politics. We'll discover that the Scriptures truly are good news for all peoples in all times. We'll learn a bigger picture of Jesus' good news that helps us to engage our contemporary culture with love, grace and truth.

Theology for the Rest of Us

Everyone’s a theologian. How can we be good at it?

Mention “theology” and watch everyone shrink back in their chairs. Words like Trinity, Sovereignty and Eschatology scare us away from asking good questions about God, about faith and Christianity. But that’s not how it’s supposed to be! We all talk about God. We’re all theologians, whether we realize it or not. In this class, we’ll rescue theology from the ivory tower.

Theology should invite us to know God better.
