Ugly Ducklings

Genesis 1 teaches us that God created us in God's image. While other creation stories written around the same time teach that humans were created to be slaves to the gods, Genesis teaches us that we are God's children and partners in creation. Today we are constantly surrounded by stories, by companies and cultures telling us what to be and how to act. We must always listen to Jesus, who perfectly reveals God's way to us and reminds us that we are first and foremost friends and children of God.

Jesus’ resurrection wasn’t the end of the story; it was the beginning of God’s new creation. The Resurrection is God’s first step toward reclaiming creation, and we get to be a part of it. By choosing to follow Jesus, we leave the old reality dominated by sin and death and step into God’s kingdom, where we find life. This new life has already begun. And yet we’re also still waiting, because God’s kingdom has not yet come in full. How do we live in the tension between the Already and the Not Yet?
