Everyone is a Theologian
Theology sounds like something reserved for academics and brainiacs. But it's not! Theology means "words about God". So if you talk about God (or even just think about God!), you're a theologian. The real question is: How do we do theology well?

Mention “theology” and watch everyone shrink back in their chairs. Words like Trinity, Sovereignty and Eschatology scare us away from asking good questions about God, about faith and Christianity. But that’s not how it’s supposed to be! We all talk about God. We’re all theologians, whether we realize it or not. In this class, we’ll rescue theology from the ivory tower. The Scriptures are full of symbols, metaphors and ideas that don’t make a lot of sense to our modern ears. From the evil of the oceans and living water to temples and gods, much of the language we find in the Scriptures points to a worldview very different from 21st century America. In this class, we’ll explore these ideas, examine where they influence the Scriptures. We’ll also find those same ideas in popular culture today, everywhere from books and movies to philosophy and politics. We’ll discover that the Scriptures truly are good news for all peoples in all times.
