Fear & Desire

Even once we discover what we love, we struggle to connect with our calling because our loves seem so ordinary. But the story of Chiune Sugihara and Paul's words in 1 Corinthians 12 remind us that when the Spirit leads, even the most mundane activities are extraordinary.

From Series: "Fear & Desire"

Discovering our calling is a matter of discerning what we love. Contrary to popular belief, we can trust the desires of our hearts as guides to how God is inviting us to change the world. Everyone has a calling. Everyone matters to our future. We find our calling at the intersection of our loves and the needs of our world.

Too often, we think faith is about winning – getting our way in the culture or in our homes. But during Lent, we’ll trace the human journey through the Old Testament and see that getting what we want never works out like we hope. We’ll see how Jesus enters into our failure and becomes a loser just like us. Somehow, his failure is good news for us.

It turns out God is for losers, which is good news for all us failures.
