Pompeii
The song "Pompeil" by Bastille is about what it feels like to live through the End of the World. When our world is rocked by tragedy, we tend to look backward, to idealize the "Glory Days" of the past and pine for what we've lost. But God's words through the prophet Isaiah remind us that God is never finished with us, that God is doing a new thing in our midst. The prophet calls us to be mindful of what God is doing NOW. The Glory Days are ahead of us because God is with us.

In response, Jesus told several parables that illustrated the tension we feel as we wait for his kingdom to come on Earth as it is in Heaven. Waiting in Jesus’ new reality isn’t passive.
