The Miracle of a Cross

Bad Deal

It's one thing to ask if Jesus is really with us in hard times. It's quite another to ask if we're willing to stay with Jesus in those same hard times. Jesus wants us to have a mature, vibrant faith, one that is strong enough to support us as we follow him everywhere - even in the worst times.

From Series: "Bad Deal"

Why are temptations so... well, tempting? Why are we so attracted to things that are bad for us? And how can we resist them? In this Lent series, we explore the nature of temptation and turn to Jesus' example to heal us. Plus, some help from Dostoyevsky's Grand Inquisitor, because what would Lent be without some 19th century Russian literature?

Jesus’ disciples often asked him when his Kingdom would come in full, when this new life he always talked about would arrive. In response, Jesus told several parables that illustrated the tension we feel as we wait for his kingdom to come on Earth as it is in Heaven. Waiting in Jesus’ new reality isn’t passive. It’s an active, intentional patience. So how do we wait well?
