The Shadow Self

Good Grief

We build our lives around all kinds of things that make us feel secure, in control or valuable. But these things cannot give us the meaning and purpose we crave. In Lamentations 4, we see God strip these things away from the people of Jerusalem that they might return to worshipping God alone. How can we return to God before our own idolatry ruins us?

During this series, we’ve been exploring the three temptations using Dostoyevsky’s “The Grand Inquisitor”.

This Sunday, we’re going to switch things up. I’m going to share some of my own fiction that I’ve used to reflect on the nature of Jesus third test.

What did it mean that Satan told Jesus to worship him? How could Satan offer up the kingdoms of the world?

Questions to consider… until we gather on Sunday. See you then!

Join us Sunday as we explore what it takes to rule the world – and why we should fail that test.
