What to Expect When We\'re Expecting

Our confidence to move into the future comes not from blind hope or our own efforts. Rather, when we respond to God's announced intentions, we can be confident that our faithful action will bear fruit in accord with God's work in our world. We move into the future because God is faithful.

From Series: "What to Expect When We're Expecting"

The future can be a scary thing – especially because it doesn’t come with a roadmap. But when God calls us, we rarely get all the details. How do we move forward faithfully when we don’t know where we’re going? Advent invites us to anticipate well, to look to our fathers and mothers as they longed for God’s rescue. Their stories teach us how to hope well and move forward faithfully.

How many times have you heard about one of those spectacular events in the Old Testament and thought, “It must be nice!” If only I had seen the Red Sea part, or Elijah’s showdown on Mt. Carmel. Then it’d be so easy to trust God! But apparently that’s not true. We see again and again that the big events aren’t what transform us into God’s people. Rather, we find God in the ordinary phenomena we see every day.

Join us in January as we explore these Big Events to find what God was calling his people to then – and now: an ordinary, every day relationship that’s nothing short of phenomenal.
