Don't Drink the Kool-Aid
Often religion seems to be about conformity, about everyone thinking and acting the same. But in John’s vision of the End, we see God’s plan is to rescue and restore people from every culture and nation in human history. We’ll be together, but the myriad ways we follow God’s call will be preserved and celebrated. How can we begin embracing the diversity of God’s kingdom in the here and now?

How many times have you heard about one of those spectacular events in the Old Testament and thought, “It must be nice!” If only I had seen the Red Sea part, or Elijah’s showdown on Mt. Carmel. Then it’d be so easy to trust God! But apparently that’s not true. We see again and again that the big events aren’t what transform us into God’s people. Rather, we find God in the ordinary phenomena we see every day.
